Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an API key?
No. Chats runs on the Claude Code or Codex CLI already installed on your machine. There are no API keys to paste and no hosted AI servers. If your CLI is signed in, Chats works.
Is my data sent to Workautomate?
No. Your conversations go directly from the app to your local Claude or Codex CLI, which talks to your own AI provider. Nothing passes through Workautomate servers, and your chat history is stored locally on your machine.
What do I need installed?
Two things: a Workautomate license, and Claude Code or the Codex CLI installed and signed in on your machine. Chats detects your installed CLI and uses it as the AI engine.
Does it work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. Chats is a native desktop app for both Mac and Windows. Your sessions and settings are stored locally on each machine.
Can I use files and folders as context?
Yes. Attach files by drag and drop or with the file picker, and pick a working folder so the AI answers with your project context. Ask about a contract in your Downloads folder or a file in your codebase and it reads the real thing.
What does it cost?
One Workautomate subscription covers all apps, including Chats, for $20/month. AI usage is billed by your own Claude or Codex plan, not by Workautomate. Subscribe at workautomate.ai/subscribe.
